Private lessons are the most flexible way to learn in our shop. Whether you want to build a specific project, learn a new skill, or get comfortable using a particular machine, private instruction lets you work at your own pace with focused guidance from an experienced instructor. These sessions are ideal for beginners or experienced woodworkers.

How It Works

Describe the project or skill you want to learn, then schedule your hour safety training. You can bring your own materials or purchase from Benchmark (stock limited). You work side-by-side with Bill: planning, building, and troubleshooting until you leave satisfied. Then just settle up at the front desk- pay for the hours you learned.

Who It's For

Ideal for anyone who learns best by doing. This is perfect for beginners who want to build confidence with tools and machines, hobbyists polishing a technique, or a professional who needs concentrated help to complete a project.

What To Bring

Please wear shop appropriate clothing. No jewelry on the hands, no loose fitting clothing that could get caught, and closed toed shoes. You may choose to bring your own hearing protection or safety glasses but we do carry extras.

Billing

Private lessons are billed at $75 an hour with a mandatory hour of shop safety training billed at a flat rate of $75. You can book any amount of hours in a row, seeing as it aligns with the teacher's schedule.
