Build & Paint Your Own Wooden Toolbox
Students will assemble and customize their own wooden toolbox using pre-cut plywood pieces prepared on our Glowforge laser cutter. During the workshop, students will learn basic woodworking concepts, including assembly, clamping, glue-ups, drill safety, and finishing techniques while creating a personalized project to take home.

Course Description
1. Welcome & Safety Introduction
10 Minutes
Meet instructors
Learn basic shop safety
Get introduced to the project components
2. Dry Fit & Assembly
20 Minutes
Assemble their toolbox structure
Practice fitting pieces together before glue-up
3. Glue-Up & Clamping
15 Minutes
Apply wood glue properly
Learn clamping basics
Secure their toolbox for drying
Understand why clamping is important in woodworking
Projects will remain clamped during the next activity block.
4. Drill & Clamping Demonstration
20 Minutes
Students will participate in a guided demonstration covering:
Basic drill safety
Common drill bits and their uses
Proper clamping techniques
How pilot holes help prevent splitting
Safe screw driving practices
Students may also get hands-on practice using drills on scrap wood under supervision.
5. Snack & Bathroom Break
10 Minutes
Take a supervised restroom break
Have a small snack and water break
Reset while projects continue drying in clamps
6. Painting & Customization
35–40 Minutes
Paint
Paint markers
Stencils
Decorative elements
Names or initials
7. Showcase & Cleanup
5–10 Minutes
Share finished projects
Take photos with their work
Help clean their stations
Prepare projects for transport home
